Checks worth making
Look up the contractor's license on the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry website; a company doing work in more than one special skill for a homeowner needs a residential building contractor or remodeler license. Ask who will pull the building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits, and make sure the plan shows egress windows, alarms, heat and ceiling heights the city will check. Hold the final payment until the final inspection passes.
